How are Jenelle’s kids adjusting?
During the June 13 episode Teen Mom: The Next ChapterJenelle spoke to her co-star Briana DeJesus. She revealed that her kids are feeling much better after the split. She said, “They’re feeling a lot better now that we’re separated.”

Last year, Jenelle was granted full custody of Jace. However, she admitted it wasn’t always easy. “We had our ups and downs,” she said.
What happened to Jace?
Late last summer, there was a time when Jace ran away from home. Jenelle explained during the episode, “When CPS intervened and Jace ended up in the hospital, Jace said, ‘David strangled me.'” After that, Jace was allowed to come home, but David faced criminal charges for strangulation and child abuse.

Jenelle had to make a difficult decision. She told David, “He’s coming home, and you have to go. I’m sorry.” This situation led to a no-contact order between David and Jace.
David’s Legal Troubles
In January, a grand jury indicted David on child abuse charges related to the incident with Jace in September. David has denied the allegations on social media. The case is still pending.
Jenelle obtained a restraining order against David in May. She explained the process in the episode, saying, “I had to write a whole statement. He would throw things, punch holes in the walls, be emotionally abusive, say things like, ‘Jenelle, go kill yourself, your mom doesn’t even love you. Cry yourself to sleep, bitch.'”
How was their relationship?
In a voiceover, Jenelle opened up about her relationship with David. She felt like she was “walking on eggshells.” She added, “I felt like I was being scolded like a child all the time. He would put me down a lot. I was fed up with it. Mentally tortured, not happy at all.”
David responded to E! News, saying, “I can’t go into detail about any of this right now, but I can tell you that none of that happened. When the truth comes out, you’re all going to be very shocked!”

In a recent interview with E! News, Jenelle revealed that she had been over the relationship for a long time. The catalyst for her decision to leave David was gaining full custody of Jace from her mother, Barbara Evans, in March 2023.
“I didn’t want anything, anything, to get in the way of that,” Jenelle explained. She insisted that David’s interference was a breaking point. “I’ve been fighting for Jace for years, and it’s like, she’s finally here. So I’m not going to screw that up,” she added.
What’s next for Janelle and her kids?
Jenelle is now focused on moving on and leaving her life in North Carolina behind. She shared with E!, “I feel like so many things have happened here that it’s like, ‘I have to get out and move and have a fresh start, leave all the bad memories behind.'”
Her kids support the change. Jenelle said, “I can tell their anxiety has gone down a lot, and mine has, too. And they’ve become a lot calmer. I feel like they’re not walking on eggshells anymore.”
Jenelle Evans is ready for a new chapter in her life and is looking ahead with hope and determination.
