Early life and education
Chirag Kumar Paswan was born on 31 October 1982 in Khagaria, Bihar. He is the son of former Union Minister late Ram Vilas Paswan and Reena Paswan. Chirag had his early education at the National Institute of Open Schooling, Delhi in 2003. He later pursued B.Tech in Computer Engineering from the Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jhansi. However, he dropped out during his third semester in 2005. Despite not completing his degree, Chirag’s education played a vital role in shaping his analytical and leadership skills.

Chirag Paswan’s political journey began in 2014 when he was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha from Jamui. He defeated Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhaskar by a huge margin. During this tenure, he was a member of various committees including the Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) Committee.
In 2019, Chirag contested the Lok Sabha elections again from the Jamui constituency and defeated Bhudev Chaudhary of the RLSP by over 200,000 votes. He served on several important committees, including the Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, and the General Purposes Committee.
