Khabib Abdulmanapovich Nurmagomedov was born on September 20, 1988 in Kizilyurtovsky District, Russia.
He was the second of three children of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, a war veteran and distinguished athlete. He had an older brother Mogamed and a younger sister Amina.
His father began training him in Combat Sambo when he was 17. Later, the family moved to Kiev, Ukraine, where he continued training.
